the first lodging association with 100% of its membership
pledged to sustainability and individually certified by either
the New Hampshire or Maine Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant
Program, is taking part in the Green Inntervention, Saturday,
June 13th between the hours of 10 AM and 5 PM. This event
is conceived to illustrate sustainability as a process not
a destination and eco friendly living as enjoyable as it is
beneficial. Practical steps to changing the cycle of personal
purchasing and life habits for "The Greater Green" will be
illustrated along the way.
Ticket holders will have multiple ways to track down treasure as they move about the valley, picking up pointers on how to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle along the way. Each Inn will host a "Twisted Yankee Swap" which will have items to trade for items the ticket holders have brought with them, reducing the need for new manufacturing (and cash!). There will also be a "Green Treasure" item raffled at each Inn and nine raffle tickets are a part of each original ticket purchase. Additional bonus raffle chances will be awarded prior to the tour based on Green criteria outlined in the brochure and map (e.g., Hybrid transportation, car pooling, etc.) A tried and true idea will be featured too... there will be good old fashion yard/barn/garage sales at several of the inns and along the route between participating inns. Be aware of "house rules" they may differ between sights, but are concocted in good fun to encourage "proper" negotiations. Once concluded the local treasures can be recycled from their old home to yours. The names of the ticket holders who visit all of the participating Inns will be entered in a drawing for a $200 gift certificate good toward a stay at any of those inns. Proceeds will benefit both our hospitality scholarship and theMountain Garden Club. The nature of this event suggested an additional recipient and BBInnsMWV chose to use part of the proceeds to benefit the plantings in public spaces throughout the Mt Washington Valley which are created and maintained by The Mountain Garden Club, whose continued efforts add to the vitality and beauty of the area. How to qualify for Bonus Raffle
Tickets:
Each Inn will have a “Green” Raffle prize on exhibit, which
will be awarded at the end of the day. You will have nine tickets
as a Green INNtervention guest to
start out, however, your host Innkeeper can award additional free
bonus raffle tickets when you meet the following criteria:

You drive a hybrid car |

You car pool, with friends who came with you, or other guests you met at the inn. |
|
You choose to wave housekeeping during this stay. |
|
You choose to reuse your towels and linens during this stay |
|
You carry your own refillable and washable beverage container |
|
You carry your own reusable bags or containers to avoid excess packaging |
You may play as many tickets as you choose on any raffle prize as you go
(one, all, none) even return later in the day
(before 5 PM cut off time) to play any you may have left.
